Note: We will need to provide an estimate of attendees on Friday, September 1 so they can obtain materials for the craft. We may be able to add more attendees afterwards and will ask them to have extra craft kits on hand.
Our pack's first day trip this year should be a lot of fun! Pioneer Farms is a living history museum that interprets and preserves the histories and cultures of Central Texas during the 19th century. It is located less than 30 minutes away in NE Austin. We will have a private tour of the farm, then the scouts will have time for a craft activity, and afterwards we will have a picnic lunch.
Cost:
Scouts/Youth: $23 (includes craft)
Adults: $16
ARRIVAL: 8:50am (starts at 9:00am)
We will plan on meeting outside the main office at 8:50am. The event will start at 9:00am.
Our visit will consist of a guided tour through the farm and then the scouts will learn about one of the most coveted toys of the 19th century, marbles. They will learn some marble history and terminology. Then sew their own marble bag to hold their new marble collection (set included). They will end with playing a few marble games. Siblings are welcome to attend as well.
Afterwards, we plan on having a picnic lunch at the farm.
Attire:
Let's show off our pack and plan on wearing our Class B shirts. If you are new to the pack and need one, please see the online store and contact one of the pack leaders.
Additional Information:
Our event will be in the morning to try to avoid the hottest part of the day, but it still will likely be quite warm as we get closer to lunchtime. Dress comfortably and bring sun protection (sunscreen and a hat). There will be some walking, as the farm is quite large, but the terrain is pretty flat and easy.

Picnic Lunch:
We will have some basic picnic foods like sandwiches, chips, and fruit along with some drinks (probably water and juice boxes). Feel free to bring along any other snacks you would like.

Your payment covers admission to the tour and food. You can pay through Paypal on this page. If you prefer to pay via a different method, please contact one of the leaders to discuss other options.
