Family Campsite $30
Guadalupe River State Park is a beautiful park just north of San Antonio, a little less than a 2 hour drive from NW Austin. We will have a couple sites for Friday night for anyone interested in camping for 2 nights. This is the last campout of this scouting year and it should be a lot of fun!
OVERNIGHT CAMPSITES:
Only $30 per family for a campsite. The person hauling the trailer will pick a central campsite to use as a basecamp for the group meals and campfire. We have booked 2 sites for Friday night and 10 sites for Saturday night. Note that priority for Friday night sites will be given to those who sign up and pay first. We also have the option of doubling up at campsites, depending on tent sizes. If you are interested in staying Friday night, please note it on the Signup Genius page.
MEALS:
$7 per person pays for meals and includes Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.
ACTIVITIES:
There is usually a hike in the afternoon before we all get together to start cooking dinner around 5pm on Saturday evening. Everyone lends a hand to prepare, cook and clean up before we enjoy s'mores around the campfire. Sunday morning we'll have breakfast, pack up campsites, and clean up the area before heading out.
VOLUNTEERING:
There is typically a large group camping and a lot of work before, during, and after to make it enjoyable for all who attend. It is imperative to have volunteers help with different tasks in order to have a smooth and fun campout. Please volunteer to assist on the Signup Genius page.
HOW TO PAY:
You can pay for your campsite fee and meals through Paypal on this page. If you have any additional questions or special requests, please contact Vance Toth.
GENERAL INFORMATION AND CANCELATION:
Campsites: Cedar Sage Camping Area
Friday Night: 25, 27 (Blue on the map below)
Saturday Night: 6, 15, 17, 20, 22, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30
Arrival: There is no set arrival time for the scouts since some families may have other activities and commitments to work around, but note that Guadalupe River State Park is about 2 hours away. Typically, you will need to pay the park entrance fee when you arrive which is approximately $7 per adult, children 12 and younger are free. Campsite check-in opens at 2:00pm. Sites may be available earlier but cannot be guaranteed. You may arrive earlier and enjoy the park until you are able to check-in. If you are going to arrive later than 4:00, please notify the leaders so we can make sure the park headquarters is aware.
Campsites will not be assigned ahead of time. You may take any of our reserved campsites you like, but please let the park headquarters know which site you take (assuming they require you to register with them). In addition, please setup to allow for another family since we may double up at sites.
Basecamp: We'll pick when we get out there with the trailer, but probably either 25 or 27.
Friday Night Campers: If someone isn't able to haul the trailer on Friday, the pack camping gear may not be at the campsites until Saturday. If you are camping Friday night, coordinate with Vance Toth to find out if the trailer will be there or if you need to take a cooking stove or any other gear. In addition, due to the unpredictable arrival time for Friday night campers, dinner is not provided, but may be coordinated among those camping that evening.
Saturday Afternoon Hike: We will probably meet at the basecamp by 2:00pm. Hike will start shortly afterwards (around 2:30pm). More information will be provided as logistics get worked out.
